Aru Camping

Aru Valley is a small yet self-sufficient scenic village located 12 km from Pahalgam. The drive up to the village is alluring too. The location of the village among the grasslands, make this place a tourist delight. It is reachable by walking along a mountain path. The village also serves as the start point for trekking to Kolahoi glacier. The valley is also known to be a good site for camping. Camping can be done at aru or ladderway (2hrs walk from aru). Here, you can have a glimpse of Kolohoi Peak, 5370 meters. Another trek from Lidderwat leads to the most desired Twin Lakes, Tarsar 3794mtrs & Marsar 3788 meters (2-3 days trek)

Day 01: Leave from Srinagar and proceed to Aru via Pahalgam. Upon reaching Aru look for a good camping site and start pitching your tent. Rest of the day is free for exploring aru and around.

Day 02: Aru to Lidderwat: on to- Lidderwat (2 – 3hrs trek). The main trail is through the Pine trees for two to three kilometers. The trail into a veritable Arcadian setting with Gujar Shepherds tending their buffalo and local Kashmiri shepherds grazing their flocks of sheep on the undulating meadows. Lidderwat is a plateau where 2 rivers meet. Camp overnight at Lidderwat or came back in the evening to Aru.

Day 03: Aru to Srinagar: – In the day you can visit Beetab Valley and in the afternoon you will be transferred to Srinagar.
